  • Job Description
  • Plans, supervises and participates in the installation and maintenance of a wide range of communications systems and equipment for the Company such as Fibre Optic systems & networks, PA/GA systems, CCTV systems, Microwave systems, VHF/UHF radio systems, PABX systems & networks, Audio/Visual systems, Entertainment systems, Structured cabling, LAN networks, Power supplies etc. Prepares and supervises planned routine maintenance activities
  • Supervises the activities of assigned personnel. Performs supervisory functions at the level established by Management for the position. The specific Managerial and Supervisory responsibilities of all such jobs are detailed in a separate document, included in all Job Description Manuals. 
  • Directs and participates in the daily activities, routine and preventative maintenance programs for all Company telecommunications systems and equipment both onshore and offshore. Inspects quality and compliance of completed work.
  • Supervises and participates in the installation of various end-user peripherals. 
  • Ensures continuous and reliable services are available at all times. 
  • Supervises contractors activities on maintenance contracts to ensure that work carried out meets specified requirements. Ensures that contracted personnel adhere to and meet Company safety procedures, regulations and laid down practices. 
  • Co-ordinates with and assists Senior Telecommunications Engineer on ongoing schemes to verify user requirements, arrange planned outages and follow up progress. Acts for Senior Telecommunications Engineer when required. 
  • Prepares and reviews Preventative Maintenance Schedules for all communications systems, updates these schedules as and when necessary and incorporates schedules for new systems. 
  • Ensures all communications systems documentation is available and updated to include all modifications/upgrades etc. at all times. Reviews Vendors submitted documentation for completeness and accuracy. Maintains an indexed library for this purpose. 
  • Ensures that all communications systems spares are adequate and available at all times. Recommends additional spares and arranges for repairs of faulty equipment. 
  • Regularly inspects test equipment and ensures their proper operation and regular calibration. 
  • Responsible for the support of Company Safety, environment and Quality policies and programs, and carrying out specific duties and responsibilities related to his job as spelled out in Management system documentation, policies, procedures, local documentation, Management System Manual, Safety Manual and other related documents. 
  • Undertakes similar and related tasks as directed by supervisor
  • a. Bachelors Degree in Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent . 
  • b. 7 - 8 years directly related experience, preferably in the Oil & Gas Industry. 
  • c. Very good written and spoken English.
