Spectrum Manager (govt job in UK)

The CAA is the UK's specialist aviation regulator. Through its skills and expertise it is recognised as a world leader in its field.

The CAA is currently recruiting for a key position within its Directorate of Airspace Policy (DAP), a unit whose remit is to ensure the efficient use of national airspace and its supporting infrastructure. The work of DAP is varied and challenging and includes the provision of expert advice across the CAA and to Government; working with industry and consumer groups to deliver efficient airspace structure and its supporting CNS infrastructure.

The role

You will be part of the small but high profile Surveillance and Spectrum Management team responsible for the development of aeronautical spectrum policy and fulfilling the spectrum management function within the CAA’s Directorate of Airspace Policy (DAP). This includes taking forward work on how aeronautical spectrum is protected at the national and international level, and working with Government on UK spectrum policy initiatives. With a strong focus on this area in the organisation, the next few years promise a step-change in the work of the CAA and the chance to make a real difference for aviation.

You will be responsible for helping to manage an ambitious and wide-ranging work programme, as well as collaborating across the organisation and with Government, Industry and other organisations on aeronautical spectrum issues.

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of spectrum and frequency management along with strong technical and analytical abilities. You will have the ability to communicate with clarity and respect. You will also be a team player capable of driving high quality results and achieving change. You will have technical and management skills coupled with lateral thinking and the integrity to build effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, including Government.

You will have the confidence to advise at the highest levels of seniority and to represent the CAA internationally.
